One of the latest development schemes to complete this year was at Welford Road in Boughton on the northern outskirts of Northampton. The site is close another major Futures scheme, Central Avenue, that we featured in last year’s report.

This £8m 41-home scheme of one, two and three-bedroom properties comprises ten social rent homes, 15 shared ownership and 16 Rent to Buy so it provides new home options for people from lots of different walks of life.

Welford Road is close to lots of local amenities including shopping, banks and a dental practice with the centre of Northampton also within easy reach.

Construction started in the Spring of 2019 but was delayed when two the contractors building the scheme went into administration in 2022. Finding a new contractor was made more challenging due the knock-on effects of the pandemic but Jeakins Wier were appointed to resume the project later in the year. The scheme was soon back on track and work, including a new access road to the development, was completed in June 2024.
