While most of us like to think of Christmas as a cosy time of year full of sparkles and treats with loved-ones, reality doesn’t always live up to the fantasy. All of those gifts and festive treats can come with a high price tag and living on a lower income can really put the squeeze on the celebrations. This year the cost of living crisis meant that some of our customers struggled to pay their heating bills through the winter, let alone splash out on gifts and filling the table with expensive food.

So to help offset some of the pressures many customers were facing, our team members joined forces with local community organisations to help provide much-needed winter coats in the weeks leading up to the festive season.

Over 100 pre-loved and nearly-new coats were donated by staff members and donated to three community centres - Infinite Wellbeing CIC, Heanor, Oscari Church of Christ, Riddings and the Hope Centre, Northampton. Each local centre then helped ensure that the donations would bring some much needed warmth to those in need of a bit of extra help.

Alongside this Futures has continued to support and work with local foodbanks and other charities, not just at Christmas but around the year, to help relieve some of the financial and practical pressures faced by customers throughout our region.
