Back in October the village of Ironville was sadly hit by an unprecedented level of flooding caused by Storm Babet. Many households, including 18 of our customers, had to be temporarily moved out of their homes.
Colleagues worked tirelessly from the off to find all affected families a suitable safe place to live, including preparing the temporary homes with the essential items they needed.
Drying out a home is an unpredictable process so it was eight months later in June 2024 before the first customers could eventually move back into their home. The damage caused meant the ground floor of all homes needed new flooring, rooms needed decorating, and a new kitchen had to be installed.
While many Futures colleagues have been involved, our Assets and Communities teams have been dedicated to supporting customers the whole way through this long and challenging time. This has included installing post boxes at their homes so they can still safely collect their mail, dealing with insurance claims, energy companies, contractors and hosting an open day for customers to choose their new kitchens and get progress updates as well as potential move-in dates.
We’d like to thank our Assets and Communities teams for all their continued hard work on something that has now become part of their normal job roles since the day the flood hit, and thank you to all of the affected customers for their continued patience and understanding.
