Health and safety is our top priority at Futures. So for customers this means making sure that every home meets all the relevant national and legal safeguards as well as helping to keep people well informed about how to get the best out of their home, safely. We carry out regular testing on homes for electrical and gas safety plus additional checks on fire safety, lifts and water systems where relevant to help keep risks under control.
As an employer of more than 400 people we also have a huge responsibility to ensure that our team members can work safely. While desk jobs might bring relatively few hazards, many of our people are out and about looking after homes and neighbourhoods. They travel and use a wide range of tools and materials, some of which could be harmful if not used properly. To help look after them we have extensive training in place and checks and safeguards to make sure people know how to work safely and follow the rules. We also take swift action when accidents do happen to learn and hopefully prevent them happening again.
Given the huge importance of this topic, we were really delighted to get five star accreditation from our British Safety Council Occupational Health and Safety Audit this year. The four day assessment included a review of our policies and procedures and interviews with key employees and stakeholders. This was a great achievement, lifting us up to the top bracket from three stars just a year ago.
Just another example of how we’re continually striving to improve and getting the seal of approval from those whose job it is to tell us whether or not we’re achieving it.
