This year we revitalised our approach to getting all our team members onboard on our sustainability journey with brand new and mandatory organisation-wide training in how to be a ‘carbon hero’. The training puts delegates into the hot seat by asking them to act the part of a chief executive of a housing association charged with doing more to accelerate their organisation on the path to net zero.
The training launched in the summer of 2023 and more than 100 employees have now taken part in ten sessions over the course of the year. The programme will continue with plans to run one to two sessions a month across the organisation at various locations.
Topics covered along the way include how to build more energy efficient homes, getting customers and staff engaged, and financing.
Participants are also asked to make a personal pledge for the planet during the training to demonstrate how even small personal changes can help the planet towards a more sustainable future.
