When we reached out to our contractors late last year to ask if they would support us in donating Christmas presents to people and families in domestic abuse refuges, we never expected just how far they would go to help.
Nine of our contractors kindly donated over £3,000 towards Christmas presents for families using three local refuges. Balance bikes, board games, dolls and drones were just some of the many presents we handed over to parents living in the refuges so they could gift them to their children.
This amazing feat wouldn’t have been possible without Harmony Fire,PJ Lilley,Aaron Services,Sustainable Building Services UK,Camlin,Trison Construction,Dovedale Dampcure Services,Joe Brown and Henman Dunn who all generously helped us donate bags full of presents toNorthamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service (NDAS), Eve and Derbyshire Wish.
Each bag handed over was filled with presents for children at the refuges, including gifts for kids ranging from toddlers to teens, as well as their parents.
Jude Horan, Manager of Refuge and Community Support at Derbyshire Wish said: “We have many families who flee their homes with very little and in some cases all they can bring with them is what they’re wearing. Our families often feel at this time of year that Christmas doesn’t apply to them and is forgotten about – this donation is going to mean we can ensure this doesn’t happen!”
