With one in four people experiencing a mental health problem each year in England, it’s important that we all get more comfortable talking about how we feel.
We got colleagues together for several Time to Talk Day ‘lunch and learn’ sessions to share their thoughts on how to look after their wellbeing. Starting conversations about mental health isn’t easy but it was great to see team members open up and share their thoughts on how to look after themselves.
Colleagues were also joined by the funny, moving and inspiring David Beeney, a man who has committed the rest of his working life to reducing the stigma of mental health in the workplace.
David held in-person and virtual sessions for colleagues, where he shared his own experiences of panic attacks and anxiety as well as tips for looking after ourselves and others. While the sessions focused on men’s mental health, he delivered the sessions in such a kind, engaging and creative way that they were suitable for all colleagues.
